EPHEMERA

ArtLiD Artists

The exhibition was inspired by the Portuguese group’s visit to Poland in May 2024 in the framework of the ArtLiD project and tells a simple story of discovering a new place with support of those who know this reality intimately.

Ephemera bridges two worlds that are interconnected yet distinct. The exhibition invites reflection on how we perceive places and narratives that seem foreign to us. Are we truly discovering something new, or are we seeing it through the lens of others’ memories and interpretations?

It emphasizes the fleeting nature of a moment, which transforms our view of the world. Each piece, as part of a larger whole, reflects the tension between the enduring and the ephemeral, while simultaneously engaging the viewer in the process of discovery. As a result, the exhibition not only presents reality but also provokes questions about the nature of our perception and experiences.

The word ephemera refers to objects or items that are short-lived or designed to be used only for a short period of time. It encompasses things that are transient and temporary, such as everyday artifacts, documents, or memorabilia that are not intended to be preserved long-term. In the context of the exhibition, it captures the fleeting nature of snapshot photography and the temporary role of posters, which are heavily influenced by the Polish School of Posters.
